Casey and Jake's Wedding - 05/30/2021, Bayard, Nebraska.
It was apparently meant to be that I was to be the DJ at this wedding. No, I'm not bragging that I was the DJ, but back in 2020, I was supposed to be the DJ at another wedding on May 29th. Well, we all know what COVID did to weddings last year, so that wedding reception was rescheduled to May 30th of this year. However, that couple changed plans with their reception and decided to cancel.
Not long after I heard about that cancellation, I received a text from Jake wanting to know if I was available. Jake originally contacted my great friends, Don and Lucy, with Projekt 3D in Sidney, NE. They were already booked and were happy to send Jake my way! Jake and I visited about what they needed for both their wedding ceremony and reception, and they were happy to book me for it!
They chose a backyard wedding in Bayard, Nebraska, which I was so happy to be at and provide the audio and music for them. The ceremony was held just down the hill from the house. I had to run literally 325 foot of extension cords to get power down to that location, but it worked without a flaw and after their sweet ceremony, it was time to walk back up the hill to the reception.
I knew a few of the guests and everyone was so much fun to hang out with and celebrate Jake and Casey's big day. They wanted a very casual reception where everyone could eat, drink, and socialize. Jake mentioned they wanted mostly classic rock and country. I received many positive comments about the music from Casey's dad and several of the guests.
After a delicious dinner provided by The Meat Shoppe / Gering Civic Center, it was time to party!! They started with a special dance for the bride and groom, followed by the father/daughter dance, where they wanted "Top of the World" by Van Halen played. In all my years, I have never played a Van Halen song for a father/daughter dance, but it was a first and everyone loved it (see the pictures of Casey and her dad below), and then a special dance for Jake and his mom.
Towards the end of the reception I visited with Casey and she mentioned how much she loved everything I had done for their wedding and it was exactly the way she pictured it to be!!
